We celebrated St. Nicholas Day with Santa pancakes, stories about Santa, and by singing songs about Santa.
We always look forward to the first day of December. It is the day we have our North Pole Breakfast. This includes North Pole Pancakes, Snow Ball Donuts, and hot chocolate with homemade marshmallows.
Another Thanksgiving favorite...Cranberry Thanksgiving by Wende and Harry Devlin. We love to make our own cranberry muffins after we read this one.
One of our favorite Thanksgiving books is A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting. We read it every year. We like to make our own cupcake turkeys too.
We like to celebrate Martinmas every year. It is a time to prepare for the colder, darker days of winter by remembering that we all have a light inside us, the love of Jesus, to shine in the darkness. We make horseshoe cookies and stained glass lanterns. At night we go on a lantern walk while we sing "This Little Light of Mine".
We love this poem: God made my life a little light Within this world to glow A little flame that burneth bright Wherever I may go. Audrey had a lovely little butterfly garden birthday party with two of her best friends a few weeks after her birthday.
To celebrate fall, the changing of the leaves and the cooler weather, we made watercolor leaves, tempera painted leaves, and baked lots of our favorite honey oat bread.

Our story of loving and learning at home...
"Let them be little, 'cause they're only that way for a while. Give them hope, give them praise, give them love every day. Let them cry, let them giggle; let them sleep in the middle, oh, let them be little."
- Written and Sung by Billy Dean
