When we got back home, we created a nature display of all the treasures we found on our "tree hunt". This was such an active and exciting way to learn about all the parts of a tree!
Today we continued our study of trees with a Tree Treasure Hunt. First, we read Tell Me, Tree by Gail Gibbons. We then used what we learned from that book to create the list, "Parts of a Tree". We took this list with us to the park and went on a hunt to find each part of the tree. We were able to collect most of the items on our list as we walked to the park. We found cones, seeds, fruit, leaves, needles, bark, and twigs. We also found a trunk, branches, and roots. We couldn't take them home with us, though. We are still on the hunt for acorns...
