Isn't that so sweet! I just love magical nature stories like this. So, after our story, we cut into an apple to reveal the hidden star. Audrey and Ethan found this to be quite exciting. Then we did some apple stamping to show off the star.
In preparation for our visit to the apple orchard this weekend, we are learning about apple trees and apples. We read a magical story, The Story of the Apple Star. In it, a small, young apple tree loves to look up at the stars above in the night sky. An orchard fairy comes along and tells the apple tree that she will grant it one wish. The apple tree wishes for one star from the night sky. So the fairy promised that if the apple tree was good, worked hard to grow big and strong, and grew big red apples she would grant the wish. The apple tree did just that, and after waiting patiently and stretching his limbs up to meet the sun and his roots down to drink the water, the orchard fairy returned. The apple tree asked the fairy, "When will I be given my wish of one bright star of my own?" The orchard fairy told him that his wish had already been granted and that among his branches he has not one, but as many stars as he has admired in the sky. The apple tree asked where these stars were and the orchard fairy replied, "Just peek inside one of your apples. There you will find a special secret hidden star. Ready to be discovered by the lucky person who chooses one of your apples you worked so hard to grow!" Isn't that so sweet! I just love magical nature stories like this. So, after our story, we cut into an apple to reveal the hidden star. Audrey and Ethan found this to be quite exciting. Then we did some apple stamping to show off the star.
